During our short week we celebrated the life of Dr. Martin Luther King. The girls read a variety of articles about MLK and responded to comprehension questions. They were able to connect these themes with those in our book, Song of Harlem, which we finished this week. We also finished Unit 3 in Math, but the girls have not seen the last of multiplying and dividing - we will practice these algorithms all year. We start fractions on Mondays - lots of food talk (: pies and pizza are made for fractions! On Monday, we will exchange magazine covers and articles with our partners in Mrs. Hiscock's room, and we will celebrate today's National Popcorn Day a little late.
The girls seemed to adore getting a little bit of snow, and we are all holding out hope for more than a dusting in the near future. Also, coming up is our next Service Project. The Second Graders and Junior Kindergarteners are "sponsoring" the project which will benefit Little Hands of Virginia. This organization provides essentials to families with babies. Fourth grade will collect hooded baby blankets. All details are HERE.
