Weekly Update

Swimming has been such a fantastic part of the last two weeks!

Many pictures are posted below. We do, however, look forward to our regular schedule kicking back in on Monday.

The girls are enjoying Roald Dahl's hilarious book, James and the Giant Peach. We are working on vocabulary development, reading comprehension, and reading with fluency and expression. Visualization helps with comprehension, and it is so fun with this descriptive and crazy book! In math, the girls are getting better at measuring angles. We will wrap up our geometry unit this week.

Friday, October 20 is Conference Day.

Please click here to sign up for a Conference.

I look forward to meeting with you.

Please remember to consistently check SeeSaw

for updates from each of the Specials Teachers.

Weekly Update

Swimming has been a highlight this week!

We have had a great week. The girls seem energized each morning as they come in to swim, and they really seem to enjoy the pool time. We have measured angles with improving consistency, learned new vocabulary words in Wordly Wise, and written descriptive (but mysterious) paragraphs. Ask your daughter all about her paragraph. They will be hanging in the halls next week, and I know they will be hard to guess. In addition to our regularly scheduled activities, the girls handled their first 4th Grade ERBs like champs, and they truly looked gorgeous for picture day despite having been in the pool that morning. All around, this week has been full of joy and excitement, and it has been a big success.

Next week we will begin some spelling routines, start our first novel, and pick up the pace on Geometry.

Many girls are wanting to tap into their Google Classroom from home. I will post math games that reinforce our fact focus for the week. So if you have a device at home that is available for your daughter to use, here is the class code to connect to our Google Classroom:

Remember, we swim again

Monday - Thursday of the next week, too!

Weekly Update

All you need is LOVE!

As you know the girls did their class chapel today,

and I am so proud of them! It was wonderful.

It was a treat to engage the girls in this special project. Their concept of LOVE is precious and deep, which brought so much to our chapel. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend today. If you have any video or photos from our chapel and you are willing to share, please email me. I would love to share them with Sunny Goode who was unable to attend today because of a funeral.

These special events are always worth the time and effort in the classroom (and a tidge away from academics); however, I think we are all looking forward to a regular schedule next week. We will focus on reading comprehension and fluency as we begin a new book, new WW words, and measuring angles. We will begin a new writing lab focused on expository writing and a little mystery, too.

Reading and Language Arts
This week we finished reading the Newberry Award winning book, The Hundred Dresses, by Eleanor Estes. At the heart of the story is a little girl, Wanda, who is teased for wearing the same blue dress to school every day. In the end her classmate, Maddie, learns about standing up for others and about forgiveness. This has been a wonderful first book, and now the entire fourth grade has designed paper dresses with a special message of compassion hidden in the design. These dresses (not quite 100) will be displayed throughout the halls of the Lower School. Ask your daughter what her dress looks like and what her message is.

On Monday we start the swimming unit of PE.

Weekly Update

Thank you for coming to Parents' Night last night. It was great to see everyone there and have a chance to share so much about this special year ahead. I am grateful for our partnership, and I look forward to working with you throughout the year.

Today was a special day. The Class of 2032 got their Fourthie Hats!
After some words about leadership from the Fourth Grade Teachers and signing a pledge to do her best as a leader in the Lower School, each girl received her Fourthie Hat and a bracelet. The girls were quite excited, and they should be proud because they have already demonstrated leadership in so many ways.

On Friday, September 15, our class will present our class chapel. You are welcome to join us. Chapel is at 8:15am in the Lower School Assembly Room. There will be chairs set up in the back of the room for you.

To select a week for your daughter's Fourthie Special Week click here

Click on the Carpool Helper button on the right to see the calendar of when your daughter will be a helper. Girls should arrive by 7:35 and come on in to the Lower School Office to put on a safety sash. If your daughter's name is not there yet, please click here to sign up.
