Weekly Update

The anticipation of Christmas is adding a great deal of excitement to our classroom. For now, we continue to try to focus on our learning with some special projects and events sprinkled in. We are loving our latest novel, Rain Reign, and it has sparked wonderful and deep classroom discussions. In addition, the book has turned our attention to homophones. The girls are working hard on learning new homophones, as well as correctly using old ones that can be a little tricky (it's, its, too, to, their, there, and they're are just a few). In math, we are practicing 2-digit by 2-digit multiplication. We are also using Canva to showcase the girls ability to use abstract nouns. Look for our finished projects and videos on the blog next week.

We had a great trip to the Virginia State Capitol with a great review of Virginia History dabbled in. We especially loved stopping by the statues of women from Virginia who have left their mark on our state. There are a few photos below.

In addition, we have recently had some fun activities of note. Our Middle School "Big Sisters" came down to our room to make ornaments and enjoy some camaraderie. The fourthies had a great time stringing popcorn and cranberries and making bird feeder-pinecone ornaments for the trees around the playground. The trees look so festive, and the birds and squirrels are appreciative....photos of these activities are also below.

It wouldn't be Christmas without the Lower School Gift Service!

As the leaders of the Lower School, the Fourthies lead this beautiful service. This year Reveille Methodist Church will host us again at 9:00am on December 20. Hopefully, you received the Costume Note from Mrs. Ivens last week. In case you did not, CLICK HERE to see what your daughter needs to wear on December 20.

For children not attending Extended Day that day, dismissal and carpool will follow our return to school immediately after the service. Please click HERE to let us know your daughter's dismissal plans for after the service.
