Weekly Update

All you need is LOVE!

As you know the girls did their class chapel today,

and I am so proud of them! It was wonderful.

It was a treat to engage the girls in this special project. Their concept of LOVE is precious and deep, which brought so much to our chapel. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend today. If you have any video or photos from our chapel and you are willing to share, please email me. I would love to share them with Sunny Goode who was unable to attend today because of a funeral.

These special events are always worth the time and effort in the classroom (and a tidge away from academics); however, I think we are all looking forward to a regular schedule next week. We will focus on reading comprehension and fluency as we begin a new book, new WW words, and measuring angles. We will begin a new writing lab focused on expository writing and a little mystery, too.

Reading and Language Arts
This week we finished reading the Newberry Award winning book, The Hundred Dresses, by Eleanor Estes. At the heart of the story is a little girl, Wanda, who is teased for wearing the same blue dress to school every day. In the end her classmate, Maddie, learns about standing up for others and about forgiveness. This has been a wonderful first book, and now the entire fourth grade has designed paper dresses with a special message of compassion hidden in the design. These dresses (not quite 100) will be displayed throughout the halls of the Lower School. Ask your daughter what her dress looks like and what her message is.

On Monday we start the swimming unit of PE.
